Prayer Evenings
There will be Prayer Evenings for our Deanery Mission, in the North Chapel of St Mary’s Saffron Walden from 8pm til 9pm on Thursdays, 26th April, 3rd May and 10th May.
Events to be held at Henham, Elsenham & Ugley Churches
Elsenham:
Photography Master Class at St Mary's Elsenham on Saturday 12th May, followed by an exhibition of the phottographs taken on Saturday 23rd June with Gospel presentation.
Henham:
A trip for the Henham & Elsenham Garden Society to the magnificant gardens of church members, Stephen & Joan Bazlinton in Stebbing on Tuesday 11th September. The guided tour of the garden will include tea and a talk from Stephen on all not being well in the garden - a presentation of the doctrine of the fall and God's remedy in sending Christ. Follow-up will involve the use of a questionnaire.
Ugley:
A Coffee Fundraiser for St Clare's Hospice, Friday 18th May at Ugley Village Hall,
12.30pm - 3pm, with a talk giving a Christian perspective on facing illness and death. A booklet by Mark Ashton to be distributed. Follow-up will involve the use of a questionnaire.

Events at Benefice of Clavering with Langley, Arkesden and Wicken Bonhunt
The Clavering Benefice is having a joint PCCs Away Day on Sunday 24th June. The question they will be addressing is “How can we work together to equip ourselves for mission and ministry?” The day will begin with Holy Communion and end with lunch and will be held in St Margaret’s, Wicken Bonhunt.

Events at St Mary's Saffron Walden
Invitations are being issued to parents of pre-school children to:
BIG DINNER! BIG QUESTIONS! St Mary's Church Parish Room, Saturday 19th May, 7.30pm an opportunity to enjoy a three-course meal, meet other parents with pre-school children and consider some of the questions children ask about God, life and death.
A response form will be available on the night and there will be invitations to a 6 week explorers’ course: “Food for Thought – a look at the Christian Faith” plus details of regular family oriented services. The church would greatly value the prayers of others in the deanery for every aspect of this venture, our catering, those invited, the presentations, our hospitality and the follow-up.
Events at St James, Sewards End
Coffee Morning Special, Friday 18th May from 10am to 11.30am at the Church
including demonstrations of flower arrangements to describe the events of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. Open to all in the village this is particularly suitable for those who attend the quarterly coffee mornings that have been held for some years.
There will be a follow up evening “Any questions on the Christian Faith” about a fortnight later.
Events at the United Benefice of The Sampfords and Radwinter with Hempstead
Radwinter: A question and answer evening for parents and children to meet Bishop Stephen and talk about some of the difficult questions that children ask. Children go to another room to talk over the questions they would like to ask the Bishop, which they can ask him when they go back in.
CAMEO(Come And Meet Each Other) - a new group meeting monthly in Great Sampford Church Vestry for an hour in the afternoon for coffee, chat (and knitting, optional). It is planned that when the group gets established, it would be possible to arrange an session in the Autumn answering questions of faith decided by the Group.
Seeds - in conjunction with the Gardening Club Plant Sale at Hempstead, seeds are to be given out, and have also been given to children at the Good Friday Workshop. Flowers and produce to be brought later in a celebration service.
Songs of Praise in the garden of The Bluebell at Hempstead in the afternoon of the Queen's Jubilee Sunday 3rd June.
Parishes of Great & Little Chesterford, Littlebury with Littlebury Green, & Wendens Ambo:
Holy Trinity, Littlebury – Café Church – 6th May
We will be holding our 4th Café Church gathering on Sunday 6th May when we will be inviting an even wider circle of families from Littlebury. The theme is ‘Bearing Fruit’ and as well as a continental breakfast there will be a range of activities and a very short and informal service to round it off. We started in January and hold them on the first Sunday in the month – we have averaged 50 adults and children so far and are now attracting people from other villages as well.
St. Mary’s, Little Chesterford – Art Exhibition 11th-13th May
The exhibition will include work by local artists and will conclude on Sunday afternoon at 4.00 pm with an informal service of music and words to which all the exhibitors have been invited as well as the village as a whole.
All Saints, Great Chesterford – Open Air ‘Bring a Friend’ Family Service and picnic lunch – 24th June
We will be holding an open air family service in the vicarage garden to which everyone is invited - to bring a friend and to stay for a bring and share lunch and a bouncy castle!
Events at Newport and Widdington
Film Night, Saturday 19th May - there is an opportunity to gather together to watch a movie and enjoy popcorn and refreshments. After the film there will be a short discussion about the film and a drawing out some gospel themes from the movie itself. It will be a relaxed evening, with no pressure, but an opportunity to see how the Christian gospel can be learnt through the medium of cinema. The time and venue is to be arranged, and the event is aimed at 12-18 years olds.
Coffee Afternoon with Music, Sunday 20th May in Church House, Newport - there will be an opportunity together together for tea, coffee and cake. There will be a musical theme running through the afternoon. Remember 'Name that Tune'? We'll be playing 'Name that Hymn' from lyrics of by listening to a short bit of it. You'll also have the opportunity to learn something about the origin of the hymn and a look at what the hymn tells us about our faith. Relaxed & informative, and some fun along the way as well. The time is to be set but will be published here in due course.

We will be hosting an informal supper on Friday 19th May at 7.30pm, for a number of those on the Church electoral roll. We will be addressing questions related to faith, life and how our Church can be a more effective presence in the community.
Wimbish Church
We are having a 4 mile walk on Sunday 20th May entitled ‘For the beauty of the earth’; there will be pauses along the way for reflection, conversation and questions. The walk will leave St. Paul’s Mission Room at 2pm, returning there for tea and cakes at the end.
